1. Starter Plan — Free Trial Period

No charges, no commitment. Cancel or leave whenever you want.

RateCards offers a 6-month free trial on the Starter plan for new users. No payment information is required during the trial period and there are no charges. You may stop using the Service at any time without any action required. You may also permanently delete your account at any time through your account settings. At the end of the 6-month trial, your account will automatically remain on the Starter plan and billing will begin unless you cancel before the trial period ends.

3. Annual Plans

Annual plans are a 12-month commitment. You keep access for the full year you've paid for, but we don't issue refunds for unused months — except as required by law in your state.

RateCards offers annual billing on the Starter ($5/mo, billed $60/year), Solo ($24/mo, billed $288/year), and Business ($119/mo, billed $1,428/year) plans. Annual subscribers save compared to monthly billing.

Annual subscriptions are billed as a single payment covering a 12-month period. When you cancel an annual plan:

  • Your subscription will not renew at the next annual billing date
  • You will retain access to all paid features through the end of the 12-month period you have already paid for
  • After the annual period ends, your account will revert to the Starter plan

Annual subscribers who cancel after the 7-day initial refund window described in Section 7 are not entitled to a prorated refund for the unused portion of their annual term.

Compliance with automatic renewal laws: For annual subscriptions, cancellation terms and the no-refund policy are presented and acknowledged by the user at the time of purchase, in compliance with applicable state automatic renewal laws, including California Business & Professions Code §17601 et seq. and equivalent statutes in other jurisdictions.

Statutory rights: Customers in states with statutory refund or cancellation rights may contact us to exercise those rights. This policy does not limit any rights you may have under applicable state or federal consumer protection law.

4. How to Cancel

You can cancel in two minutes from your account settings — no phone call required, no cancellation fee.

To cancel your subscription:

  • In-app: Go to Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts
  • By email: Send a cancellation request to support@ratecards.app from the email address associated with your account

Cancellations take effect immediately — meaning your plan will not renew — but access continues through the end of the current billing period. You will receive a confirmation email when your cancellation is processed.

There are no cancellation fees.

5. Scope — Platform Subscriptions Only

This policy covers what you pay RateCards for your subscription. It does not cover payments between users on the platform — those are governed by the Payments Terms.

This Refund & Cancellation Policy applies exclusively to subscription fees charged by RateCards Inc. to users for access to the RateCards platform. It does not apply to, and RateCards expressly disclaims any refund or dispute obligation with respect to, any of the following:

  • Peer-to-peer transactions: payments made by one RateCards user to another user through the platform, including payments made in connection with rate cards, invoices, project agreements, or any other commercial arrangement between users
  • Platform service fees: fees charged by RateCards on peer-to-peer transactions are governed separately and are not subject to the refund terms in this policy
  • Add-ons and usage charges: optional add-ons and metered usage — including the AI Voice Receptionist add-on and overage minutes, additional team seats, and marketing top-up packs — are billed separately and are non-refundable once the billing month has begun
  • Third-party disputes: disputes between users arising from the underlying services, deliverables, or agreements between those users

Refund rights, dispute resolution, and chargeback procedures for peer-to-peer transactions are governed exclusively by RateCards' Payments Terms, which are incorporated by reference into the RateCards Terms of Service. Payment processing for peer-to-peer transactions is handled by Stripe, Inc. via Stripe Connect (Standard / Platform model), and Stripe's own Connected Account Agreement applies to Sellers. RateCards assumes no liability for peer-to-peer transaction disputes, and users are advised to resolve such disputes through the process set out in the Payments Terms.

RateCards acts solely as a technology platform facilitating connections between users and does not act as a party to, guarantor of, or fiduciary in connection with any peer-to-peer transaction.

6. Refunds — General Rule (Subscriptions)

We don't issue prorated refunds for unused time on monthly plans. The exceptions in Section 7 apply to specific, limited circumstances.

RateCards does not issue refunds for partial billing periods on monthly plans. When you cancel, you are not charged for the next billing period, but you will not receive a refund for any portion of the current period you have already paid for.

For annual plans, see Section 3. For exceptions to the general no-refund rule, see Section 7.

7. Exceptions & Guaranteed Refund Circumstances

Three specific situations where you're entitled to a refund or credit: a genuine first-time upgrade within 7 days, a billing error, or a major verified service outage.

RateCards will issue refunds or credits in the following circumstances:

  • 7-day new subscriber guarantee: If you upgrade to a paid plan for the first time and, within 7 calendar days of that initial upgrade, contact us with a specific description of how the Service failed to meet your reasonable expectations, you are eligible for a full refund. Refund requests that do not describe a genuine issue with Service functionality, performance, or material limitations will not qualify. To request this refund, email support@ratecards.app from your account email with a description of the issue experienced. This guarantee applies once per customer account and does not apply to renewals, plan upgrades between paid tiers, or subsequent subscription periods.
  • Billing error: If you were charged an incorrect amount due to a RateCards billing error, we will correct it and issue a refund for the overcharge within 10 business days of verification. Billing error refund requests must be submitted within 90 days of the charge in question.
  • Verified service outage: In the event of a verified service outage exceeding 24 consecutive hours within your billing period, as documented on RateCards' publicly accessible status page at status.ratecards.app, you may request a prorated account credit for the affected period. An "eligible service outage" is defined as a period of confirmed complete service unavailability of 24 or more continuous hours, as recorded on the public status page during your active subscription period. Credits are applied to future billing periods, expire 12 months from the date of issuance, and are not redeemable as cash. Credits are forfeited upon account cancellation or termination. Intermittent or partial degradations that do not constitute complete service unavailability do not qualify.

To request a refund or credit under any of these circumstances, contact support@ratecards.app with your account email and a description of the issue. We aim to respond within 3 business days.

8. Plan Downgrades & Upgrades

Downgrading takes effect at the end of your billing period. Upgrading takes effect immediately — the prorated difference for the remaining days in your cycle is charged right away.

If you downgrade from a higher-tier paid plan to a lower-tier paid plan or to the Starter plan, the change takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to your current plan's features until that date.

When you upgrade mid-cycle, the prorated amount for the remaining days in your current billing period is calculated and charged immediately by our payment processor. Your next billing date remains unchanged. No manual credit calculation is required on your part.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. We'll post changes here with a new effective date, and for material changes we'll notify you by email or in-app notice before they take effect.

RateCards reserves the right to modify this Refund & Cancellation Policy at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes — meaning changes that meaningfully reduce your refund rights or alter your obligations — we will provide at least 14 days' advance notice via email to your account address, an in-app notification, or both.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. If you do not agree to the revised policy, you may cancel your subscription prior to the effective date of the changes in accordance with Section 4.

The version of this policy in effect at the time a refund-eligible event occurs will govern that event, not any subsequent version.

10. Governing Law

Delaware law governs this policy. Any disputes go through binding arbitration under the RateCards Terms of Service.

This Refund & Cancellation Policy is incorporated into and governed by RateCards' Terms of Service, including its governing law, venue, and dispute resolution provisions. These policies are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and are subject to the dispute resolution provisions of RateCards' Terms of Service, including binding arbitration. In the event of any conflict between this policy and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service shall control, except where applicable law in your jurisdiction requires otherwise.

Nothing in this policy limits any statutory rights you may have under applicable US federal or state consumer protection law.
